Whether you’re cuddled up with family and friends looking for your next holiday flick or Home Alone looking for the company of a good movie, I’ve got you covered with todays list. Here are my favorite holiday movies that are available right now on the various streaming platforms!

MAX

SERENDIPITY | PG-13 | 1h 31m

Who doesn’t love a sappy NYC romance sparked by a pair of black cashmere gloves? This rom-com starts as two 20 somethings meet-cute and have the most incredible night of their life with a complete stranger. It’s really never that simple though. The world seems incapable of keeping these two apart and what culminates in a playful, messy romp of romantic cat and mouse. It’s Kate Beckinsale at her most charming, John Cusak in his element, and It’s a yearly watch for me. You can stream Serendipity now on MAX.

DISNEY+

NOELLE | G | 1h 47m

This movie’s cheer lives and dies with the charm of Anna Kendrick’s portrayal of Kris Kringle’s daughter, Noelle, and that works for me. While the plot of Noelle may not stick with you through the new year, it’s jolly enough that every December when I rev up Disney+ and see Noelle promoted on the home screen, I cant resist but spend another 2 hours turning my brain off and enjoying some much needed holiday positivity. The movie follows Noelle’s quest to rescue her brother and save Christmas in a fish out of water tale. Noelle is a heart warming flick that the whole family can enjoy. It’s empty calories that feel necessary every the Christmas season.

THE HOLDOVERS | R | 2h 12m

Had The Holdovers came out in the 80’s, it would likely be one of those eternalized coming of age movies that everyone is expected to have seen at birth! This movie is an Oscar Winner starring Paul Giamatti in what’s his best work to date! Unlike the previous films on this list, The Holdovers will sink it’s teeth into your heart and stay there, simultaneously breaking and mending your heart in ways that few modern holiday films attempt. This movie tells a story of love, found family, and learning to discover and accept one’s self in a way that will leave you thinking about it long after the final credits roll. The Holdovers was my favorite film of 2023 and will likely grace my tv for every year to come and hopefully it will grace yours too!

HULU

LA LA LAND | PG-13 | 2h 8m

Yes, La La Land is a Christmas movie and yes, I will be including this on every list I possibly can. Is La La Land my favorite film of all time? Sure, but that’s besides the point. For my fellow Californian’s, many of us are not used to having a snowy Christmas days and I always feel at home turning on this Los Angeles based flick. While this is a musical, I have shared this film with many a family and friends and even the Scroogiest of musical deniers have been able to enjoy the ride. Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone have starred together many times and they have the most palpable chemistry which bleeds through the film. What happens when two people fall in love but must choose between that love and their dreams? Find out now and stream La La Land on Hulu!

Disney+

The Force Awakens | PG-13 | 2h 16m

You would all have to label me a fraud if I omitted The Force Awakens from this list. The namesake inspiration of this very blog feels like the most holiday centric Star War for many reasons. First of all it began the trend of Star Wars movies releasing in December. Secondly, the entire third act takes place on the snowy biomed Starkiller Base. Thirdly, Rey’s theme feels festive doesn’t it? Don’t believe me? Well then I challenge you to make some hot chocolate, get your coziest blanket, and put on The Force Awakens and tell me you don’t feel a tinge of holiday spirit!
